For many children in Burlington County, when school recesses for the summer, they no longer have access to the daily, nutritious meals they receive from the free and reduced school lunch program. This July, we ask that you consider donating your time to a program that helps to fill that gap and feed these children during the summer months.
For our July Service event, we will partner with Beverly United Methodist Church to volunteer at its Beverly Summer Lunch Program. This program provides lunches and fun activities to Beverly children during the summer months. Volunteers will be asked to help set-up, serve lunch, do crafts and read to children. The event will be held on Friday, July 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Beverly Housing Authority.
Last year, Beverly United Methodist Church served nearly 4,400 lunches to children in their local community through the Summer Lunch Program. In addition, they also administer the Meals of Love Ministry, where guests from nearby communities can enjoy music, prayer, company and a home-cooked meal. Beverly United Methodist Church has a long history of service and recently celebrated a number of milestones including its 215th year in the community, 168 years of incorporation, and 150 years in their current facility.
Space is limited to 20 volunteers – teenagers welcome – so RSVP today!
