March is New Jersey STEM Month (STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math). In order to encourage STEM learning in our children, New Jersey Makers Day is a statewide celebration held in March to promote community education and entrepreneurship through hands-on learning experiences.
For our March Service event, we will partner with the Burlington County Library for their 5th Annual Makers Faire. With hundreds of attendees expected that day, the library needs volunteers to help staff stations at the event. Volunteers can choose from general volunteer opportunities such as helping with event set-up, registration and surveying attendees, or from various hands-on, do-it-yourself stations, depending on their interests and talents, including: 3D printing, STEM activities (green screens, marble runs, Legos, etc), arts and crafts, and more. This event will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, and we are asking volunteers to help from 10am-12pm.
The Burlington County Library System, has 8 branches, including its Westampton Headquarters, and nine community libraries that maintain an association with the County Library. It has the distinction of serving the largest county geographically. Residents located in 818 square miles of both rural and suburban areas have access to over 1,000,000 items within the library system.
Space is limited to 30 volunteers, so RSVP today!
