For many of us, December is a time to celebrate the holidays with our families and friends. It is a time to be merry, a time full of abundance and blessings. However, so many others are not as fortunate and our December Serve with Singleton event will help our neighbors in need.
For our December Service event, we will be partnering with Extended Hands Ministries, a homeless shelter and food pantry in Mount Holly, to provide “Help for the Holidays.” Volunteers will be asked to help with a variety of tasks such as: sorting toy and gift donations, staffing the food pantry, helping distribute clothing donations, and setting-up/ prepping community lunch that day. This event will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 10:00 am - 12:00 p.m. at Extended Hands Ministries.
In addition, our district office will be serving as a drop-off location for donated winter coats and toys for the individuals served by Extended Hand Ministries.
The Extended Hand Ministry (TEHM) was founded in 1984 to address the need to assist the poor and needy of Burlington County with temporary shelter, food and clothing. TEHM serves approximately 500 meals each month, and distributes holiday baskets and holds community picnics. Its Mount Holly location has temporary sleeping accommodations for up to 14 individuals and seeks to meet the ever increasing demand for beds and housing, especially in the winter months.
Space is limited to 20 volunteers, so RSVP today!
