February is African-American History month. What better way to honor this part of our nation’s heritage than to lend a hand to Jacob’s Chapel Ministry Center?
Jacob’s Chapel A.M.E. Church is located on the site of the historic Colemantown Meeting House, which is the oldest black church in Burlington County and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. The Meeting House is also listed on the NJ Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
Jacob’s Chapel was listed among the "2017 Ten Most Endangered Historic Sites in New Jersey" by Preservation New Jersey, a group that advocates for and promotes historic preservation to protect and enhance the vitality and heritage of New Jersey’s richly diverse communities.
Its Ministry Center, located across the street from the church, could use some TLC. Potential projects that day will include painting, carpet cleaning, stocking the food pantry, and organizing the basement, among other items.
Space is limited to 25 helpers so RSVP today!
